Frequently Asked Questions
You'll find answers to common questions about asphalt below.
If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact us and
we will be happy to provide the requested information.
Do you pave in the winter?
Yes. Patching and repairs should be done as
soon as possible to prevent further damage. We
offer a one year guarantee on all work.
Why Sealcoat?
Sealcoating is the most cost efficient way to
extend the life of your asphalt. As asphalt breaks
down, the pavement loses its binding properties.
To reinstate the binding solution, we clean the
surface and apply an emulsion based sealcoat
that will bond to the asphalt. Sealcoating should
be performed every 3 to 5 years depending on
wear and tear.
How long does Sealcoat take to dry?
Depending on the temperatures, we recommend
staying off Sealcoat for 24 to 48 hours.
Why Crack Fill?
Linear cracks in asphalt can lead to expensive
damages. Crack filling is a cost effective way to
prevent further damage. The cracks will be
cleaned, and then a hot rubberized material will
be injected into the crack, filling the void.
What causes a pothole?
A typical pothole is caused by poor subgrade.
Also, water that has penetrated the asphalt that
goes through a freeze and thawing cycle can
affect the sub base allowing the pothole to grow.
Can asphalt be recycled?
Yes, it is pulverized and bonded to be reused in
certain mix designs. According to the Federal
Highway Administration, 80% of asphalt that is
removed each year is reused.
